3-Day Sahara Desert Tour: Marrakech - M'Hamid - Erg Chegaga

Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – M'Hamid, the Gateway to the Desert

Your adventure begins in Marrakech, where we head south, crossing the majestic High Atlas Mountains. We drive through the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass (2,260 m altitude), offering breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains and valleys. Along the way, we pause to explore Berber architecture and traditional kasbahs.

After a free lunch in Ouarzazate, the "Gateway to the Desert" and a famous film city, we continue our journey to Agdz, where the stunning Draa Valley begins. This region is renowned for its vast palm groves, ksour, and mud-brick kasbahs. Following the Draa Valley, we reach Zagora and then M'Hamid, the last oasis before the vast Sahara. Dinner and overnight at Riad Amnir, where you will enjoy comfort and Moroccan hospitality.

Day 2: M'Hamid – Erg Chegaga, the Immensity of the Moroccan Desert

After a traditional breakfast, we embark on a desert journey on camelback. This immersive experience allows you to feel the unique atmosphere of the Sahara as you traverse dunes and rocky plateaus. We take a break for a nomadic-style lunch under the shade of tamarisk trees before continuing by 4x4 to the impressive Erg Chegaga, one of the largest ergs in Morocco, with dunes reaching up to 300 meters in height. Along the way, we cross the Hamada du Draa, a stone desert contrasting with the golden dunes.

The afternoon is dedicated to exploring the Chegaga Sand Sea, offering a spectacular sunset view over the dunes. We also stop at the Sacred Oasis, a mystical site where water flows in the heart of the desert.

Arrival at the luxury bivouac, where you will enjoy dinner under the stars, accompanied by traditional music. An unforgettable experience awaits with the opportunity to observe the pure desert sky.

Day 3: Erg Chegaga – Lake Iriqui – Colorado Desert – Taznakht – Marrakech

After waking up in the heart of the dunes and enjoying breakfast at the bivouac, we set off in a 4x4 through wild and diverse landscapes. We cross the dried-up Lake Iriqui, a vast plain where mirages can sometimes be seen. Then, we continue towards the Colorado Desert, known for its spectacular rock formations reminiscent of the American West.

On the way, we stop in Taznakht, renowned for its Berber craftsmanship and traditional carpets. You will have the opportunity to visit a weaving cooperative and discover ancestral manufacturing techniques.

After a local lunch, we return to Marrakech, carrying unforgettable memories of this authentic and immersive adventure in the Moroccan desert.
