Hiking in the Moroccan Desert: Trekking and 4x4 from M'hamid to Chegaga in 3 Days

Arrival Day: Welcome to M'hamid, the Gateway to the Moroccan Desert

Arrive in M'Hamid, the gateway to the desert, by your own means of transport (direct CTM bus from Marrakech at 11 am or shared taxi with a change in Ouarzazate).

Enjoy a warm welcome and settle into the Caravane Renard bivouac, located at the entrance to the Moroccan desert. Traditional dinner and overnight stay in a nomadic tent for an authentic immersion before your desert adventure.

Day 1: M'hamid – Erg Lmzwaria (Hiking in the M'hamid Desert)

Depart from M'hamid in the afternoon for a trek towards Erg Lmzwaria. The walk crosses a vast area of tamaris trees, offering a first encounter with the immensity of the Moroccan Sahara.

Arrive at the Lmzwaria dunes in the late afternoon and set up camp. Experience sand bread baking, enjoy nomadic animations, and spend an unforgettable night under the starry desert sky.

Day 2: Erg Lmzwaria – Grand Erg Chegaga (4x4 Expedition and Sacred Oasis)

After a breakfast in the heart of the desert, departure by 4x4 towards the impressive dunes of Chegaga (Erg Chegaga). This journey takes you through diverse landscapes, from rocky plains to sandy dunes, before reaching the sacred oasis, a preserved water source where nomads bring their herds.

After lunch at the sacred oasis, continue towards the towering dunes of Chegaga, reaching heights of 300m. Enjoy an exceptional sunset as the dunes take on golden and red hues. Overnight stay in a nomadic tent at the Erg Chegaga bivouac.

Day 3: Erg Chegaga – M'hamid (Return by 4x4 and Magical Sunrise)

Early morning, witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Chegaga dunes before heading back to M'hamid by 4x4.

Arrive in M'hamid by late morning, marking the end of this unforgettable adventure in the Moroccan desert.
