Tour 4 days To Erg Chigaga from Marrakech

4-Day Desert Circuit: Marrakech - Erg Chegaga - Mhamid

Day 1: Marrakech → Ouarzazate → Agdz → Draa Valley → Mhamid

The journey begins at Marrakech at 8:00 AM, with a 4x4 departure through the Atlas Mountains, a famous spot for travelers seeking breathtaking landscapes. On the way, you'll pass through the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, offering panoramic views of the mountains and valleys.

Stop in Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Moroccan desert, a must-see for Moroccan cinema lovers and those enchanted by desert landscapes. You'll have lunch here and explore the authenticity of the town, often referred to as the "Hollywood of Morocco."

After lunch, head toward Zagora, with a stop in Agdz, a charming village offering stunning views of the Draa Valley, famous for its lush palmeraies and traditional Berber villages. We continue along the valley to Afraa, following a winding path towards the Moroccan desert.

Before arriving in Mhamid, stop at Tamgroute to visit the ancient coranic library, the underground kasbah, and the traditional pottery workshop, a centuries-old craft. This stop provides a deep dive into the local culture of this remote desert region.

By the end of the day, you'll reach the Mhamid bivouac, a magical place in the heart of the Saharan desert. Enjoy a traditional dinner around the fire, accompanied by Sahraoui folklore music, and spend the night in a nomadic tent. Alternatively, you can stay the night at the Riad Amnir for more comfort.

Day 2: Mhamid → Erg Chegaga – Unforgettable Desert Experience

After a traditional breakfast in the desert, set off on a camel trek for a half-day adventure. This unique experience allows you to immerse yourself in the majestic silence of the desert and admire the vast stretches of sand. A lunch break will be taken under the tamarisk trees, offering a perfect view of the golden dunes.

In the afternoon, take a 4x4 to reach the great dunes of Chegaga, one of the highlights of the Moroccan desert. Take your time to climb these imposing dunes and enjoy a privileged moment to witness the sunset over the sand waves. The visual experience is breathtaking, offering a complete immersion in the magic of the Saharan desert.

Return to the Chegaga bivouac for an unforgettable evening. Enjoy a traditional Berber dinner around the fire, with singing and dancing. Spend the night under the stars in this exceptional setting.

Day 3: Chegaga Dunes → Lake Iriqui → Moroccan Colorado Desert → Ait Ben Haddou

In the morning, after breakfast, depart for Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a legendary site and UNESCO World Heritage-listed. This ancient ksar, built from mudbrick, has served as the backdrop for many famous films. Its visit immerses you in the history and traditional architecture of Berber Morocco.

On the way, we'll pass by Lake Iriqui, a dried-up lake surrounded by impressive desert landscapes, before reaching the Moroccan Colorado desert. This unique site features reddish-orange rock formations, resembling the landscapes of the Colorado in the USA. Continue to Foum Zguid, then to Taznakht, the Moroccan capital of carpets. Here, we'll make a stop at a carpet cooperative, where you can observe the traditional weaving process and learn more about the cultural significance of Berber carpets.

After a traditional lunch, we'll resume the journey to Ait Ben Haddou for a final stop before heading to our hotel for dinner and a restful night.

Day 4: Ait Ben Haddou → Telouate → Marrakech

The last day of your adventure begins with a departure towards Telouate, another treasure of Berber heritage. You'll cross the Ounila Valley, offering spectacular views of oak and pine forests, as well as beautiful Berber villages clinging to the cliffs.

In Telouate, visit the ancient Glaoui Kasbah, a historical monument that reflects the wealth and influence of the Glaoui lords who ruled the region. After a guided tour of the kasbah, enjoy lunch on-site before continuing the journey back to Marrakech.

By the end of the day, you'll return to Marrakech, marking the conclusion of this unforgettable Moroccan desert adventure.
